The Sensex ended at 16077.55, down 98.31 points

The Bombay Stock Exchange's Sensex ended its two-day winning streak and closed in the negative territory led by losses in technology, oil&gas and capital goods space. Profit booking was seen in technology stocks after IT bellwether Infosys Technologies lowered its revenue guidance.

The Sensex ended at 16077.55, down 98.31 points or 0.61 per cent. The 30-share index touched intraday high 16178.58 and low of 15962.59 intraday.

The National Stock Exchange's Nifty ended at 4839.10, down 21.85 points or 0.45 per cent. It touched a high of 4869.20 and low of 4803.90 in trade today.

BSE Midcap Index was up 0.34 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index moved 0.17 per cent higher.

Amongst the sectoral indices, BSE IT Index was down 5.74 per cent, BSE Oil&gas Index declined 0.59 per cent and BSE Capital Goods Index edged 0.25 per cent lower. BSE Power Index was up 1.57 per cent, BSE Bankex Index moved 1.31 per cent higher and BSE Auto Index gained 1.30 per cent.
